Facial Disfigurement
Facial Disfigurement is a change in the normal look of a person's face due to disease, trauma, medical or dermatalogical alteration. (Facial disfigurement can also be congenital such as a cleft pallet or hair lip, these are usually repaired early in a child's life.)
The change in a person's look can be more traumatic than the cause of the change, as a person no longer feels he/she looks like the person they see in their mirror. It is important when treating this person to try to see the changes they see and to realistically plan the treatment, explaining the pitfalls if any and the expected outcome.
In this clinic we treat facial disfigurement with emotional support and realistic goals, if the treatment is beyond our skills in injectable treatment we will refer to plastic surgeons.
