Sculptra

What it is: An injectable polylactic acid (lactic acid occurs naturally in the body). Sculptra has been specially developed to help the body "fill in" the lines, wrinkles and depressions that develop naturally over the years.

Sculptra is injected into and fills a line or wrinkle and over time, helps to stimulate the body's own collagen production. It also helps to create volume in a face that has lost volume through ageing, loss of weight or illness.

Unlike other products currently available, Sculptra is bio-degradable, bio-compatable, immunologically inert and non-allergic.

• Procedure time: 30 minutes - 1 hour.
• Down time: Slight swelling for 24-48 hours.
• Lasting effects: Up to 3 years after 3 to 4 treatments
• Risks: Some bruising and redness may occur in those with sensitive skin but this is minimal and temporary.
• Pain: Slight discomfort from the injection. Topical anaesthetic cream may be used and/or ice if necessary.
